I bought a Nutone IMA-3303 Master Station to replace my 1986 vintage Nutone IM-3003 Master Station. The digital tuner and station presets are a nice improvement over my older analog unit. The controls are basic. The display reverts to show the time (only) a few seconds after changing channels or the alarm settings. The master has jacks for auxiliary inputs, but the wires must enter through the Rough-In box. There are no external connections.
Replacing an older unit may not be a project for the timid. Changing from a 3003 to a 3303 was not as simple as unplugging the old unit and plugging in the new unit. The existing wall module had to be removed and replaced with an IR104 "Rough-IN". The wiring in the wall has to be changed to supply power to two transformers. Items that are required for the installation such as wire nuts and clamp connectors are not supplied with the unit. The new Rough-In box would not fit between the studs without removing a small amount of wood. Not a big deal if you have the tools and knowledge. And, the directions supplied with the 3303 are fairly clear with good illustrations. |
